Meet Laura

I have been a nurturer for as long as I can remember. I’m the oldest of three children raised in the Midwest and have been caring for and supporting families since I was about 11 years old, which in hindsight sounds wild to me. I began with date night babysitting, which was my first job, and I transitioned to summer nanny work when I was in college (Butler University, 2007). I also had one summer where I was a camp counselor and worked for a year researching, writing, and editing continuing education courses for healthcare professionals—mainly child psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists—under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. After college I began my career as an infant/toddler nanny. In this field I focused my work mainly around children/families with special needs, multiples (twins/triplets), premature babies, and nanny shares.

I began transitioning into Perinatal Care in 2017 when I first trained as a Newborn Care Specialist with Newborn Care Solutions, and I continued training as an Advanced Newborn Care Specialist in 2018. In 2019, I completed training as a Postpartum Doula with CAPPA/NAPS and as a Pediatric Sleep Consultant with Summer’s Sleep Secrets. Additionally, in October 2019 I gained certification as a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS—CACHE) and Postpartum Doula (PCD—NAPS). I also began training as a Full-spectrum/Birth Advocacy Doula.

In my role as an Advanced Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula, I offer support to growing families as they transition into parenthood. My role is to help facilitate safe, positive and empowering postpartum experiences by offering the evidence based information, unbiased emotional support, and physical support needed during this time.
